Why Do People Open Up Small Businesses?
If you read the financial press you will see that even in the “good times†there are thousands of small businesses which “go to the wall†in their first year of trading. Many of you may be wondering what exactly drives someone to open their own business, and what are the benefits.
There are a number of reasons why some one may open a small business, which include :-
· To work for themselves
· If they have been made unemployed, but have their own skills.
· They have a unique idea.
The above are just some of the more common reasons why so many people take the plunge each year and set up their own business. While everyone is warned that it is difficult, each one will go in with the attitude that it will not be them who hits trouble in their first year. They will survive, and go from strength to strength.
It is this drive which makes the UK one of the small business centres of the world, the place where many of the population are prepared to give it a go, and while many will fail, there have been some very high profile successes. The thought of working for yourself, and earning your own money is a benefit to many, and the knowledge that if they grow the business, richer rewards may lay ahead.
The UK has a very strong small business advice network, and it is a shame that entrepreneurs do not use these as much as they could. Very often the advice is simple and effective, and there is always the opportunity of a small business loan, or some kind of financial assistance. Never stop dreaming, as one day you may live the dream………
