Is Your Van Insured For Business?
One of the major gripes which the insurance companies have with the one man business, or smaller business, is the fact that so many are under insured. While major issues such as buildings insurance and personal liability insurance are covered as a matter of course by many, issues such as transport seem to be forgotten.
Many people are not aware but if you insure your vehicle for personal use, this does not cover business travel. Therefore if you are in an accident on business, there is every chance that you may not be insured, with potentially massive consequences. Even though insuring a vehicle for business use will cost more than for personal use, it is both illegal and very dangerous not to take the correct course of action.
It has been suggested that one in four vehicles on UK roads have either no insurance, or the wrong type of insurance for their use. Unfortunately it is the legally insured driver who has had to foot the cost, with a portion of every single vehicle insurance premium effectively going to cover the cost of those driving with no insurance. The law is now coming down hard on those who drive without insurance, and as well as fines / bans, many are even facing the prospect of prison for repeat offences.
