Is Pet Insurance An Expensive Gimmick?

For years the UK has been renowned as an animal loving nation, with cats, dog and other pets common in every day life. While the market for pet food, toys and bedding is enormous - and people do not mind spending upwards of £100 on their pet - the pet insurance market is seen by many as an expensive gimmick - but is it?

Pet insurance is definitely not a gimmick, and it is something which every pet owner in the UK should consider. When you bear in mind that a vet will require more training to become qualified than a doctor, you may start to appreciate the cost of treatment.

While costs and treatments will vary from region to region (as will the cost of pet insurance), as a ball part figure you should expect to pay upwards of £825 for an operation to set a cat’s broken leg, and up to £1,500 for some of the major operations on a dog. Unusual pets might even be more expensive due to the possible specialist treatment required.

Many people each year are faced with the heartbreaking decision to pay for treatment which they can hardly afford, or let their trusted pet suffer. The vast majority of the UK population are more likely to spend their last penny on their pet than themselves - why not take away these potential decisions and check out an insurance plan for your pet?

As with any insurance the premiums will depend on where you live, the type and age of your pet and what kind of cover you require. If your pet were to run onto the road and cause an accident, there is every chance that you could be sued, although there are specialist pet insurance plans which cover these unforeseen circumstances.

For only a few pounds a month, you could have real peace of mind and ensure that your family pet has the best treatment available as and when required.
