While we are starting to see the first signs of a correction in the stock market, history has shown that there are many similarities between toady’s markets and other markets prior to “correctionsâ€. For those willing to take a step back form the euphoria of the stock market rise of the last few years, the signs of a correction have been there for some time - although some people are evening trying to shrug the signs off today!

As we predicted earlier on this blog, the US stock market is finally starting to wake up to the problems in the sub-prime mortgage sector, the industry which helps to finance those with low credit ratings.
There have been some fairly sharp falls over the last couple of days, with both the UK and US markets suffering. What prompted the sudden realisation that things were not as good as many had thought?

While many have been forecasting a major downturn in US housing, there have been those who see no difficulties ahead, and are even forecasting more rises to come. However, it looks as though, slowly but surely, the real picture is starting to emerge. Sub Prime lending (lending to those with a low credit standing) may be about to bring down the US housing market!
