The Reality Of Having Your Home Repossessed

While there has been little mention of repossessions in the housing market of late, that may well be about to change over the coming months. The repossession and fire sale of homes has long been a last resort for the majority of lending agents, but they may not be so shy in coming forward when the top of the property market is confirmed. If they are able to sell a property at the top of the market, they will receive more than enough to cover outstanding payments, and possibly leave some funds to be passed back to the original home owner.

Is Skype The Future Of The Telecom Industry?

While there have been many developments in the area of internet communication, few have the potential to have such an enormous impact as Skype - the prominent VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone service provider.

For those unaware of VoIP, this is a system which works over your existing internet connection allowing you to phone both fellow Skype users as well as traditional landline user. The system has been on the way for at least 20 years, although it is just recently that sufficient data transfer speeds became available (at affordable prices) and voice data quality improved. Technology has also been introduced which allows Skype users to enter the landline network and call landline members - this is done via a system of audio to digital switches which allow the data to be converted, sent via the internet, then converted back at the receiving end.

Homes May Cost Ten Times Income By 2026

A government sponsored think-tank has estimated that unless the supply of new housing is increased immediately, a home may cost on average ten times your income by 2026. While the report has taken into account trends in the property market and buoyant prices, the supply and demand factor is probably the most important point to consider.

Retails Sales Down In May

As we move into June and approach what many expect to be another rise in interest rates, the news from the high street seems to be indicating that recent rate hikes may finally be having some effect.

Even though the figures were effected by wet weather throughout the month of May, the fall of 1.8% compared with May 2006 is a welcome relief to the Bank of England. So have interest rates now peaked in the short term?
