UK Regulator the Financial Services Authority (FSA) is demanding a change in the way in which insurance companies “cold call†customers to sell them financial products. After carrying out a detailed review of “cold calling†techniques the FSA have highlighted a number of areas of concern, and formerly requested immediate changes.

After weeks of speculation with regards to the future of Barclays Bank, it has been confirmed that a merger with Dutch counterpart and ABN Amro has been agreed.
In a deal valued at some £45 billion, the two Banking giants will merger to create a super group valued at a massive £94 billion!

A recent report into personal finance has created something of a stir in Government circles with the majority of the UK population apparently confused by the vast array of financial products available.
The report confirmed the Government’s worst fears with less than 4 in 10 of the UK population saving for their retirement - which will surely result in an even greater strain on the UK Pension system in the future.

In perhaps one of the largest confirmed cases of fraud in recent times, literally thousands of motorists have reported large scale unauthorised transfers from their bank accounts. Many of the motorists who have suffered are reporting their accounts being wiped out, in what is believed to be a scam masterminded by Sri Lankan fraudsters.

In a move which is sure to have long term effects on the UK housing market, a number of the mainstream mortgage providers have either pulled or are reviewing there range of fixed rate mortgages. Quite why they would look to do this, other than to benefit from rising interest rates, is unsure but it seems as though the days of fixed rate mortgages are numbered.

As the cost of dental care continues to increase, along with the list of people waiting to join the few NHS dental practices still accepting new patients, many people are now look at dental insurance as a viable route to speedy treatment. Is it economical and is it worth it?
There is no doubt that the NHS dental service is on its knees with a massive increase in the number of patients, and an even larger increase in cost. As well as queues to actually join NHS dental practices, the waiting time for existing pateitns can still be any where from a few weeks to a few months - although there are a small amount of emergency appointments available for urgent situations.
